I am LOVING these Fall Saturdays lately. We recently switched some things in our schedule (including switching Sam’s work schedule and moving grocery shopping from Saturday mornings to a weekday afternoon) which enables us, for the first time in a long time, to have a full day off on Saturday. And it’s awesome. That whole “day of rest” thing? Yea, God knew what he was talking about. Sundays are far from a day of rest for our family with the interrupted schedules and business of dropping kids off or me doing the children’s message (can I get an amen, here?). And, don’t get me wrong, I love our church, but Sundays end up feeling exhausting rather than restful, and with the craziness of Sam in classes in the evenings and long, long weeks, we NEEDED to do something. So we did.
I’m in love.
This past Saturday, I slept in a bit – then Sam snoozed on the couch while the kiddos played happily in their jammies. No store to run to, no errands to do… bliss. Sheer bliss.
After a lazy morning, we decided to go to Carriage Hill Metro Park (we’ve been on a parks kick this fall – and I LOVE how many there are around here!). To say that the kids loved it would be an understatement. You can’t really go wrong with a bunch of crunchy fall leaves, a beautiful day, some farm animals to pet, and tons of space to run and tumble and play.
Clara liked looking at the chickens until the rooster started crowing…then she quickly ran for daddy’s legs and turned around to watch from a safe distance. Talk about a sweet moment…
Oliver, obviously, was a huge fan of all the open space. Also he cried when we left because he didn’t want to leave.
Can you believe this is a Metro Park? Really, really, fun.

“The sun is too bright, mommy!”
Ahhh…Much better. 🙂 And many thanks to Sam for taking this one for me.
Spotted this tree when we got there – and knew I HAD to get some pictures of the kids here. So glad I did!
Aren’t they the sweetest?
What a fun Saturday! And, way to go, Dayton on having great parks!
